Who is Peculiar Support Services for?

Peculiar Support Services Ltd provides non-personal companionship and practical support for adults aged 18 and over, subject to a suitability discussion, availability and an agreed plan.

What type of support do you provide?

We provide companionship and befriending, shopping and errands, hospital and GP appointment support, social outings and community support, and planned general non-personal home visits.

How do you approach safeguarding?

Safeguarding awareness forms part of our service standards. We also consider health and safety, lone-working arrangements, visit risk controls and appropriate incident procedures

Are you registered with CQC?

Our current services do not include regulated personal care. We do not present the company as CQC registered. If our activities change, we will reassess the legal and registration position before offering them.

Can family arrange support?

A family member may enquire, but the adult receiving support remains central. We confirm consent or lawful authority before sharing personal information or accepting instructions.

What if the client's need change?

Tell us promptly. We will review the plan and may pause or end an activity that is no longer safe or within scope, while helping identify an appropriate next step.

Our current services do not include regulated personal care. We do not present the company as CQC registered. If our activities change, we will reassess the legal and registration position before offering them.

No. We provide non-personal companionship and practical support. We do not provide washing, dressing, toileting, medication administration, clinical care, lifting or restraint.

We provide companionship and befriending, shopping and errands, hospital and GP appointment support, social outings and community support, and planned general non-personal home visits. Each arrangement is subject to suitability, planning and agreed service boundaries.

Yes, where agreed. We provide calm, non-clinical companionship before, during and after hospital or GP appointments.

Yes. We use agreed instructions, limits, receipts and records. We do not manage bank accounts, borrow money or give financial advice.

Yes. Support may include agreed community activities, cafés, parks, events and other outings.

A planned home visit may include conversation, agreed activities, light practical help recorded in the service plan, support with an everyday errand or appointment, checking agreed information and supporting contact with family or services where consented.

SERVICES BOUNDARIES

Non-personal support means practical and companionship-based assistance that does not involve regulated personal care, clinical treatment or other activities outside our authorised service scope.

We do not provide:

  • Personal or intimate care
  • Medicine administration or management
  • Clinical treatment
  • Client lifting or transfers
  • Restraint
  • Childcare
  • Live-in or overnight care
  • Emergency response
  • Continuous supervision

STARTING SUPPORT

You can contact us by telephone, email or through our enquiry form. We will listen to what support is being considered and explain our service boundaries.

We first discuss the support being considered and whether the request appears to be within our service scope. We then consider communication and access needs and any immediate concerns.

Where the service appears suitable, we move into planning and proportionate risk assessment before agreeing the relevant written terms

No. You can tell us what support you are considering and we can discuss whether it fits within our service.

Support begins only after the client receives and accepts the relevant service information, privacy information and written terms.

Yes. We check that the arrangement feels right and review it after the first visits or sooner if anything changes.

FAMILIES & PROFESSIONALS

Safeguarding & Safety

We make role-appropriate DBS eligibility decisions and complete the checks legally available for each role.

Safeguarding awareness forms part of our service standards. We also consider health and safety, lone-working arrangements, visit risk controls and appropriate incident procedures.

Where a service appears suitable, we discuss the activities, timing, responsibilities, emergency contacts and proportionate risk controls before support begins.

Money & Financial Boundaries

Yes. Shopping support can be provided using agreed instructions, limits, receipts and records.

No. Staff do not manage bank accounts.

No. Financial advice is outside the service scope.

Agreed instructions, spending limits, receipts and appropriate transaction records are used where shopping support is provided.

COMPLAINTS & FEEDBACK

You can contact the Director by telephone, email or through the complaints form.

No. Complaints are taken seriously and will not lead to unfair treatment.

Yes. Feedback can help the service understand what is working well and where improvements may be appropriate.

Yes. Concerns should be raised through the appropriate telephone or email contact route. Emergency or crime concerns should be directed to the appropriate emergency service or authority rather than submitted through a general website form.
